Niner forged their reputation with 29er mountain bikes. It makes sense that they’d expand their offerings to include other things a 29er wheel can fit, like a gravel bike. They debuted the RLT, Road Less Traveled, in 2013, which can fit tires up to 50mm wide. Niner further blurs the lines between gravel and MTB with their MCR full-suspension gravel bike. A capable rig with 50mm of travel made to make gravel roads feel like, well, a Magic Carpet Ride. The RLT comes in three flavors: a steel version, an aluminum version, and an RDO, Race Day Optimized, carbon-fiber version.

The three RLTs have nearly identical geometry, with plenty of mounts and a stable, comfortable, forgiving ride. Over the years, they’ve made small changes like updating and upgrading the fork to work with a 12mm, rather than 15mm thru-axle and improved tire clearance on the aluminum frame by deploying a forged chainstay yoke behind the bottom bracket. Niner likes versatility and flexibility, so they offer two-, three-, four-, and five-star builds.
